Beltangady, Jun 9: Police have arrested two interstate burglars in connection with theft cases reported within the Beltangady sub-division and recovered stolen property worth Rs 23.67 lac.
The arrests were made during the investigation of Crime No. 38/2026 registered at Punjalakatte police station in connection with the theft of gold ornaments and cash from a house on April 5, 2026.
As part of the investigation, the police team took into custody Hamid, a native of Kolnadu in Bantwal and presently residing in Kasargod, on May 15. The car allegedly used in the crime was also seized, and the accused was produced before the court.

Based on information provided by Hamid during interrogation, police arrested another accused, Jabir alias Jabi (38), also a native of Kolnadu in Bantwal and currently residing in Kasargod, on June 7.
During the investigation, police recovered approximately 68.690 grams of gold ornaments and Rs 2 lac in cash connected to Punjalakatte police station Crime No. 38/2026. They also recovered 21.810 grams of gold ornaments linked to Uppinangady police station Crime No. 28/2025, along with the car used in the offences.
The total value of the recovered property has been estimated at Rs 23,67,000. The accused was produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
Apart from the above cases, police investigations revealed that the accused were involved in a total of five cases, including one case each registered at Uppinangady police station, Bantwal Town police station and Beltangady police station. Further investigation is in progress.
The detection of the cases was carried out under the leadership of Beltangady sub-divisional police officer Rohini C K. The team included Beltangady Rural CPI Ravi B S, Uppinangady Rural CPI Nagaraj H E, Punjalakatte PSI Rajesh K V, and staff members ASI Bennichan, ASI Sundar Shetty, ASI Vishwanath Nayak, Praveen Murugoli, Rajesh N, Vijay Kumar Rai, Rahul Rao, Santosh, Basavaraj, Rajith and Nagaraj. Divakar and Sampath from the district technical division also assisted in the investigation.
