Bantwal, Jun 9: A passenger who was among those injured in a mini bus accident while returning home after attending a baby shower ceremony succumbed to his injuries at a hospital. The incident occurred near Pudu in Bantwal.
The deceased has been identified as Vikas, a native of Mangaluru. Around eight other passengers sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Mangaluru.
According to reports, a group from Mangaluru had travelled in a mini bus to Madanthyar in Beltangady taluk to attend a baby shower ceremony.

While they were returning to Mangaluru after the function, the mini bus reportedly went out of the driver's control and crashed into the divider before overturning near the 10th Mile area of Pudu village on the Mangaluru–Bengaluru National Highway in Bantwal.
About nine passengers in the bus sustained injuries and were admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru. Among them, Vikas had suffered serious injuries and was undergoing treatment. However, he later succumbed to his injuries despite medical efforts.
A case has been registered at the Bantwal Traffic police station.
