Bengaluru, June 7: Chief Minister D K Shivakumar travelled by Namma Metro from Vidhana Soudha Metro Station to Silk Institute Station on Sunday morning, choosing public transport to avoid traffic disruptions caused by VIP movement.
The chief minister has embarked on a day-long gratitude tour across Harohalli and various parts of Kanakapura taluk in Bengaluru South district to thank the people who have supported him over the years. The programme, titled Krutajnata Samarpana Yatra, is scheduled to continue from 10 am until 9 pm.

After reaching Silk Institute Station by Metro, Shivakumar continued his journey to Kanakapura by road. The visit has generated considerable excitement in his political stronghold, with Congress workers and supporters making elaborate preparations to welcome him.
Speaking to reporters, Shivakumar said he opted for Metro travel to prevent inconvenience to the public.
“I do not want to waste the time of ordinary citizens. Whenever a chief minister travels, traffic restrictions and congestion are inevitable. By taking the Metro, I was able to travel comfortably for nearly 45 to 50 minutes. I am now heading to my hometown to express gratitude to the people who have been voting for me since 1985,” he said.
During the Metro journey, the chief minister interacted warmly with commuters, particularly youngsters. He spent time speaking with passengers and obliged several requests for selfies, drawing an enthusiastic response from fellow travellers.
Meanwhile, celebrations marked his arrival in Kanakapura, where supporters gathered in large numbers to welcome the chief minister and participate in the gratitude tour.
