Good news for motorists: State govt once again announces 50% discount on pending traffic fines

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Jun 6: In a major relief to vehicle owners with pending traffic violation fines, the state government has issued an order once again announcing a 50% discount on the payment of traffic penalties.

The state government, which had previously collected a massive amount in pending fines by offering a similar rebate, has reintroduced the scheme. Motorists have been granted a 20-day window, from June 21 to July 10, to clear their dues by paying just half of the total fine amount.

Issuing an official order in this regard, under secretary of the state transport department Pushpa V S stated that individuals with pending traffic violation cases registered by the transport department between 1991 and 2022 are permitted to settle their cases by paying 50% of the penalty.

What about those who have paid honestly , on time? Actually govt should not waive off penalty , in future public will not pay fine and wait for the waiver. Honest people always suffer and defaulters will be benefitted.

If the government give 50% discount continuously no body will pay the penalty upfront, everybody will wait for the discount. Hence it's a loss to the people who are genuine.
