Media Release

Mangaluru, Jun 6: The International Future Bootcamp conducted in Finland from May 14 to 20, organized by Lifeology Finland, offered students a remarkable global learning experience centred on entrepreneurship, innovation, leadership, teamwork and personal growth. The programme effectively blended academic enrichment with cultural exposure, helping students strengthen essential 21st-century skills in an international setting.

The delegation from Lourdes Central School included students Krupa Somanna, Shaun L Moraes, Shaurya Raghavendra and Arsh S Mohammed, accompanied by Lolita Coelho. The team joined a larger group of 39 students and teachers from Gonzaga School, St Theresa School and St Joseph’s School, Bengaluru. Participants from schools in Coimbatore and Chennai were also part of the Bootcamp, creating a vibrant and diverse environment for collaboration and learning.

As part of the programme the participants travelled by cruise from Helsinki to Tallinn, Estonia. This international excursion provided students with valuable exposure to global travel and cultural exchange. At Tallinn University, students gained insights into international education systems, innovation-oriented learning methods and student opportunities available in Estonia. The group also explored Tallinn Old Town-a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where they experienced Estonia’s rich cultural and historical heritage.

The subsequent days were dedicated to intensive workshops and training sessions designed to enhance entrepreneurial and leadership abilities. Sessions such as programming the emotional paradigm, Nordic pitch syndicate, sharpening the solving skills and building the vision helped students improve their communication, creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The Nordic pitch syndicate sessions were especially impactful, as students learned the significance of innovation, confidence and effective presentation techniques while pitching ideas before an audience.

The participants also visited the Fazer Factory and Experience Centre, where they learned about the company’s history and production processes. The chocolate tasting experience made the visit both educational and enjoyable.

During their stay in Helsinki, students explored several important landmarks including the University of Helsinki, Senate Square, Parliament House, Oodi Library, the Port area and the White Church.

These visits enabled students to understand Finland’s education system, governance, architecture and urban planning. Treasure hunt activities organized during the city tour further enhanced teamwork, coordination, leadership and decision-making skills among participants. The Lourdes Central School team proudly won the treasure hunt competition, displaying exceptional collaboration, communication and quick thinking throughout the activity. This achievement reflected the strong leadership and teamwork qualities developed during the bootcamp.

The visit to Aalto University exposed students to Finland’s globally acclaimed innovation-driven education system and advanced learning environment. Participants also visited Suomenlinna, the historic sea fortress, where they learned about Finnish history and culture.

On May 19, the students participated in the Nordic pitch competition held at the University of Helsinki. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students representing various schools. Our team presented their ideas with creativity, confidence, teamwork and excellent presentation skills. Although they did not secure a prize, the students gained invaluable experience in innovation, entrepreneurship and public speaking.

A proud moment for the school was when Krupa Somanna received the ‘Sisu Excellence Award’ for demonstrating exceptional courage, resilience and the spirit of Sisu in overcoming challenges and consistently striving for excellence during the Future X-Finland experience.

Beyond academics, the bootcamp encouraged students to become more independent, adaptable, confident and globally aware individuals. Interacting with peers from different schools and cultural backgrounds helped them strengthen interpersonal skills, teamwork and leadership qualities that are essential for future success. The participants also formed meaningful friendships and learned the importance of adaptability and cooperation while living and working together.

The teachers had the opportunity to visit Ymmersta School in Finland, where they observed the unique teaching methods and educational practices followed by the institution. They also interacted with teachers and senior authorities, engaging in meaningful discussions regarding educational systems and learning approaches.

The delegation was deeply impressed by Finland’s breath-taking natural beauty, cleanliness, eco-friendly lifestyle, pristine lakes, and disciplined traffic systems. These experiences left a lasting impact on both students and teachers.

Overall, the international future bootcamp was an enriching and transformative journey for all participants. The school sincerely appreciates the efforts of the organizers, mentors and faculty members whose dedication contributed to the success of this international programme. Such initiatives play a vital role in broadening students’ perspectives, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship and preparing young learners to confidently embrace global opportunities.
Indeed, it was a truly memorable and wonderful experience.
