Moodbidri: Youth falls to death from fourth floor of building

Moodbidri, Jun 5: A youth tragically lost his life after falling from the fourth floor of a building while putting up roofing sheets at Kadepalla here on Thursday, June 4.

The deceased has been identified as Shaurya Acharya, son of Santosh Acharya, a resident of Pademane in Marpadi village. Shaurya was a second pre-university (PU) student who had taken up work as a labourer during his college holidays.

The incident took place at the 'Royal Paradise' building located in Gandhinagar, Kadepalla. Shaurya was working on the fourth floor to install roofing sheets when he reportedly lost his balance and fell. Though he was immediately rushed to a hospital, he succumbed to his injuries as the treatment proved ineffective.

It has been alleged that the tragic death occurred due to negligence, as the building contractor, Praveen, and the owner, Nort Shaba Rego, failed to provide proper safety equipment to the workers.

A case has been registered at the Moodbidri police station in this regard, and further investigation is underway.

    Very sad.Contractor should be taken to task and heavy punishment should be applied.Only then they will learn.Making one to work fora lower loan and no safety.Who has to cry now?Boys family.Budding rose is gone .May his soul rest in peace.Such things happen often in every corner .specially people from North people come and work for lower loan and noone know when someone die also.Police should control here and there such loopholes. Safety is A and O for workers.Heartfelt sympathies to his family.May his soul rest in peace.Let this be a lessen to other employers.

    If a young generation is working to ear money during their holiday the owners or employers please make sure to provide proper safety. 4th floor is not safe place to work without proper safety. One important and valuable life has been lost. Buildings will raise, city will be built, but lost life will not be back.

May Shaurya Acharya soul rest in peace. 🙏 I humbly request the Government, Local Panchayat, Police Department, Municipal Authorities, and concerned building owners to ensure strict implementation of safety regulations, inspections and compliance measures to prevent such unfortunate incidents in the future. Protecting lives must remain a top priority.

    be safe, workers must connect their safety harness or lanyard to the line, allowing them to move safely along a defined route while maintaining continuous protection against a free fall. I have done roofing recently and while watching them working on the terrace I noticed a working without safety line and stopped them to continue further work only the take safety measures. They obliged to my suggestion. Negligence is the cause for the untimely death of this

Unfortunately, falls from height remain one of the leading causes of serious workplace injuries and fatalities in construction. hat said, even for work at a private home, a homeowner can make a difference by: Asking how the work at height will be performed. Refusing work that involves unsafe climbing or standing on unstable surfaces. Requesting proper ladders, scaffolding, or fall-protection equipment when appropriate. Choosing contractors who demonstrate basic safety practices, even if they cost a bit more. Many workers themselves understand the risks but may feel pressured to continue because they are paid by the day and don't want to lose the job. That can make safety a shared responsibility between the contractor, the worker, and the client hiring the work.

    Heart Breaking news. A young budding life, working during his college holidays to earn some money with so many aspirations in mind, looses life due to someone's negligence. Imagine the trauma his parents are going through to loose this young child. This is not a stand alone case, but almost every building construction site, safety measures are compromised. Poor workers face a challenging situation, which is such a risk for the working team May God bless his parents with strength and courage to face this loss. May his soul rest in peace we pray

    One of many more needless deaths. This is a clear indication that our elected people in office do not care for our wellbeing. I worked abroad. A contractor will not allow his workers to work at height without safety harness. If workers complain contractor will be jailed and no two ways about the law. Few days earlier mother with child fell of moving bus and un responsive!! Fortunately for them another bus driver and conductor went out of their way and took them to a hospital. This show of humanity is rare. The issue is how they fell out of the bus??? These deaths and injuries have to stop!! !

    My heart melting reading this news, a dedicated young boy lost his life due to inadequate safety measures taken by site project manager and building owner. When will we Indian learn proper safety measures while working ???? Let boy's soul rest in peace, and god give enough strength to his parents to bear this loss.
