Gandhinagar, Jun 2: Determination, perseverance and an unwavering commitment to his goal have helped Chaudhary Vipulbhai Karmanbhai, a young man from a remote village near the India-Pakistan border in Gujarat, secure All India Rank (AIR) 115 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination.

Vipulbhai hails from Hamirpura, a remote village in the Santalpur taluka of Banaskantha district. Born into a middle-class farming family, he grew up in an area where educational opportunities were limited. The village had only basic primary education facilities, forcing him to leave home at an early stage to pursue higher studies.

Despite geographical challenges, limited resources and a lack of initial guidance, Vipulbhai remained focused on his ambition of serving society through the civil services.

His journey towards the UPSC began in 2015 after a discussion with one of his teachers inspired him to pursue a career in the civil services. Motivated by the idea of contributing to the development of his community and the nation, he started preparing seriously soon after completing his college education.

The road to success, however, was far from easy. In the early stages of his preparation, Vipulbhai faced setbacks due to inadequate guidance and a lack of access to the resources available to many urban aspirants. Yet, he refused to give up and continued working relentlessly towards his goal.

His persistence paid off when he secured AIR 348 in an earlier UPSC attempt and joined the Indian Police Service (IPS). While many would have considered that a remarkable achievement, Vipulbhai remained determined to realise his ultimate dream of becoming an IAS officer.

Balancing a demanding career in the IPS with UPSC preparation, he continued his efforts and eventually achieved AIR 115, significantly improving his rank and moving closer to his aspiration of joining the Indian Administrative Service.

Throughout his UPSC journey, Vipulbhai benefited from interview guidance and mentoring support from some IAS institutions.

His achievement stands as an inspiring example for thousands of UPSC aspirants, particularly those from rural and underprivileged backgrounds. From a small border village with limited educational facilities to securing one of the country's most prestigious ranks, Vipulbhai’s story demonstrates that grit, consistency and hard work can overcome even the most challenging circumstances.

Today, his success serves as a beacon of hope for countless young aspirants who dream of making a difference through public service.
