Beltangady: Three arrested in brutal killing of man; CCTV footage triggers probe

Beltangady, June 1: A man was allegedly beaten to death in Beltangady taluk after a brutal assault, with police registering a case following confirmation through CCTV footage, officials said.

According to the complaint filed by Nitin (34), a resident of Perne in Bantwal, he received a WhatsApp message on Monday, June 1, in the morning, which included information and photographs of an unidentified body found at Aladikottige near Guruvayanakere in Belthangady.

On verifying the images, the complainant identified the deceased as his brother Yatheesh (33). He immediately rushed to the spot and later reviewed CCTV footage from the area.

The footage reportedly showed that on the morning of June 1, Yatheesh was assaulted by Yashodhara (35), a resident of Mittabagilu in Beltangady, Mohan (30), a resident of Charvaka in Kadaba, and Ibrahim (54), a resident of Padangadi in Beltangady.

The complainant stated that Yatheesh succumbed to injuries sustained in the assault.

Based on the complaint, Beltangady police have registered a case in Crime No. 65/2026 under Sections 115(2), 103 with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and taken the accused into custody.
