Mangaluru: Suhana Safar 9 strikes nostalgic chord with evergreen Bollywood musical hits

Mangaluru, Jun 1: More than 550 music enthusiasts gathered for the ninth edition of Suhana Safar – An Evening of Old Filmy Hits & Binaca Geetmala, a nostalgic musical programme jointly organised by Lions Prakosta of Lions District 317D and the Lions Club of Mangalore at the air-conditioned C V Nayak Hall, Sujir, on Kadri Road on Saturday, May 30.

The event celebrated the timeless appeal of classic Hindi film songs from 1955 to 1980, taking the audience on a memorable journey through Bollywood's golden era.

The programme was inaugurated by Walter Nandalike, founder and editor-in-chief of Daijiworld.com. Ln M Govardhan Shetty, first vice district governor of Lions District 317D, attended as the chief guest.

 

Guests of honour included Giridhar Prabhu, chairman of Achal Group; Dr Kumble Ananth Prabhu, Professor of Surgery at Yenepoya Medical College; Dr Krishna Prasad Kudlu, medical director of Prasad Netralaya Group of Eye Hospitals; Ln M Rajesh Kamath, president of the Lions Club of Mangalore; Dr K Mohan Pai, president of GSB Seva Sangh, Mangaluru; Raghavendra Kudva, director of RVK Steel & Alloys; and Kumble Vignesh Prabhu, CEO of Kumble Group.

Welcoming the gathering, Ln M Rajesh Kamath highlighted the importance of cultural programmes in bringing communities together. Rajina Dinesh and Bharathi Pushparaj compered the inaugural session.

A highlight of the evening was the launch of Achal Roasted Almonds by Dr Kumble Ananth Prabhu in the presence of Ln M Govardhan Shetty and Giridhar Prabhu. On the occasion, M/s City Bakery, a business with a proud 100-year legacy, was felicitated. The honour was received by its director, Prakash R Prabhu.

The musical segment featured performances by noted singers, including Dr Kumble Ananth Prabhu and Malini Keshav Prasad, a jury member of the popular television music show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, along with several other talented artistes.

Adding humour to the evening, nationally acclaimed entertainer Kumble Narasimha Prabhu hosted the programme and presented stand-up comedy performances that kept the audience engaged throughout.

The programme continued until 9 pm, with attendees enjoying an evening filled with melodious, soothing and evergreen songs, making the event a memorable celebration of classic Hindi film music.

    Dear Sir, It was a memorable experience for all the music lovers, especially for those who still loves the old yesteryear songs of 60's . I wish many such programs to be conducted in Mangalore as it gives immense satisfaction and reliving our old memories. My special thanks to Dr Kumble Ananth Prabhu for personally giving me the show tickets. I do understand that all this involves lot of expenses and it was a generous gesture from Shri Giridhar Prabhu to sponsor the program. Am sure people of Mangalore are magnanimous and can buy show tickets in future program , to reduce the burden on sponsors. Thankyou
