Ahmedabad, Jun 1: Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru retained their Indian Premier League crown in emphatic fashion, defeating Gujarat Titans by five wickets in the IPL 2026 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday.
The night belonged to RCB star Virat Kohli, who produced a match-winning unbeaten 75 off 42 balls and sealed the chase with a trademark six, sparking celebrations among Bengaluru fans as the franchise lifted its second consecutive IPL title.
One of the most memorable moments of the evening came after the match when Kohli was seen congratulating 15-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who enjoyed a remarkable season and emerged as one of the tournament's biggest stars.

Vaibhav swept the individual honours at the awards ceremony, claiming the Emerging Player of the Season, Super Striker of the Season, Super Sixes of the Season, Orange Cap and Most Valuable Player awards.
Following the presentation ceremony, Kohli and Vaibhav shared a light-hearted conversation on the field, a moment that quickly became one of the defining images of the season.
Earlier, Gujarat Titans posted 155 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs after being restricted by RCB's disciplined bowling attack. Despite a few late boundaries, the Titans failed to build substantial partnerships and finished with a below-par total.
In reply, RCB chased down the target comfortably, reaching 161 for 5 in 18 overs. Kohli anchored the innings with an unbeaten knock, ensuring there were no late setbacks as Bengaluru crossed the finish line with two overs to spare.
The victory further cemented RCB's dominance in the league, while Gujarat Titans, led by captain Shubman Gill, ended the season as runners-up after an impressive campaign.
