Former Karnataka minister Venkataramanappa passes away at 85

Bengaluru, May 29: Former Karnataka minister Venkataramanappa (85) passed away following a heart attack in the early hours of Friday.

He had been admitted to Fortis Hospital in Bengaluru after suffering from age-related health complications for the past few days. According to sources, he suffered a cardiac arrest and breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Venkataramanappa had served as Karnataka’s minister for sericulture and small industries during the 2008 government tenure. Later, in 2018, he also held the portfolio of labour minister.

A senior political leader, he was elected as an MLA four times during his political career and was regarded as an influential figure in Karnataka politics.
