Goods lorry overturns after crashing into house compound in Bantwal

Bantwal, May 29: A goods lorry carrying interlock blocks overturned after crashing into the compound of a house at Koppala in Tenkabellur village of Bantwal taluk.

The incident occurred at night on the BC Road–Polali road when the goods lorry loaded with interlock blocks was travelling from the BC Road side. The lorry rammed into the compound of Jeffrey Fernandes’ house and overturned.

Interlock cement blocks loaded in the lorry fell onto the roof and courtyard of the house. As a result, the house wall, windows, doors, compound, iron gate, light pole, wooden roof rafters, tiles, DTH antenna, water pipe and the kitchen sheet suffered damage.

The complaint stated that the loss is estimated at around Rs 2.50 lac.

The lorry was also damaged in the accident, while the driver sustained minor injuries.

A case has been registered at the traffic police station.
