Veteran Udupi businessman Alvin Leo Saldanha passes away following heart attack

Udupi, May 24: Alvin Leo Saldanha (62), well-known entrepreneur and owner of the once-popular ‘Alvin Department Store’ located on Court Road in Udupi, passed away following a heart attack on Sunday, May 24.

A respected businessman in the region, Alvin had been successfully managing a large-scale bakery products manufacturing unit at Kestur. Through the distribution of quality bakery items, cakes, kuswar, and a wide range of food products across Udupi district, he had earned a household name and goodwill among customers.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, and a large number of relatives and well-wishers.

According to family sources, the funeral rites will be held on Monday, May 25, at 11.00 am at St Francis Xavier’s Church, Udyavara. Public viewing of the mortal remains will begin at 10.00 am, followed by Mass at 10.30 am.

The demise of Alvin Leo Saldanha has evoked deep sorrow among the business community and prominent personalities in Udupi.
