Udupi: Worker dies after well collapse in Kodavoor; one still feared trapped

Udupi, May 22: A labourer died after a portion of soil caved in during well-digging work at Garadimajalu in Kodavoor, while another worker is feared to be trapped under the debris.

The incident occurred when earth suddenly gave way at the site, triggering a collapse during excavation work.

Following information about the mishap, personnel from the fire and emergency services, along with police, rushed to the spot and immediately launched a rescue operation.

Rescue teams have recovered the body of one worker from beneath the collapsed soil.

Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna also visited the spot. The rescue operation is still underway. 

Efforts are currently under way to trace and rescue the second worker, who is still believed to be trapped under the debris.
