Mangaluru, May 18: The week-long children's theatre camp 'Ranga Shibira 2026', jointly organised by Chamara Foundation (R) and Adarsh Friends Association (R), was inaugurated on Sunday at Adarshnagar, Chilimbi Gudde, Mangaluru. The camp is being held in fond memory of the late Yathish Y Shetty.
Renowned theatre director Jagan Pawar formally inaugurated the camp. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasised the role of theatre in shaping the personality, communication skills, and creativity of children. Immediately after the inaugural ceremony, Pawar himself conducted the very first training session for the enrolled children, setting the tone for an enriching week ahead.

The inaugural function was graced by Ashok Kotian, president, Adarsh Friends Association; Rajendra Chilimbi, trustee, Kadri Temple and Rachana, managing trustee, Chamara Foundation.
Manish K Salian, trustee, Chamara Foundation, briefed the gathering about the intention behind the initiative, highlighting the Foundation's commitment to nurturing artistic and cultural sensibilities among the younger generation in memory of Yathish Y Shetty.
The camp is being directed by Trisha Shetty, a Ninasam-trained theatre artist and trustee, Chamara Foundation. Prashanth Kumar, trustee, Chamara Foundation, is coordinating and leading the camp on the ground.
The seven-day camp will be held from May 17 to 23 between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm every day. The camp is open to students of classes 6 to 12, with the first 15 to 20 registered participants getting an opportunity to take part. Light refreshments will be provided to all participants. The camp will culminate in a 'Ranga Prayoga' — a stage performance by the participants — on the final day.
