Mangaluru, May 15: The Dakshina Kannada District Youth Congress staged a protest near Kadri Circle on Friday evening condemning the alleged NEET question paper leak and accusing the central Bharatiya Janata Party government of failing to ensure transparency in national-level examinations.

The protest witnessed the participation of several political leaders, students, and members of the public. Among those present were B Ramanath Rai, K Harish Kumar, and Appi S, along with Youth Congress leaders who voiced concern over repeated irregularities in competitive examinations.

Speaking at the protest, B Ramanath Rai criticised the government, stating that repeated assurances alone are not enough when students’ futures are at stake. He said that despite promises of strict action in the NEET paper leak case, no meaningful punishment has been seen so far, which has weakened public trust in the system.

He further said that recurring examination leaks such as NEET and recent concerns surrounding CET point to a deeper failure in governance and policy implementation. Calling for immediate and long-term reforms, he stressed that the issue cannot be treated as a temporary political controversy, as it directly affects thousands of students and their aspirations.

Ramanath Rai also alleged that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party government has failed to take decisive action against those responsible and is responding only with statements before the media. He said that instead of introducing real reforms or reviewing policies seriously, the government is allowing such issues to fade from public attention, while students continue to suffer uncertainty over their academic future.

Ramanath Rai also noted that many students have begun raising their voices as they are deeply concerned about the direction of the education system and the uncertainty surrounding their future. The protestors demanded a thorough investigation into the alleged paper leak and stronger safeguards to prevent such incidents from recurring.
