Mumbai traffic police enforce new parking curbs on Worli roads to ease congestion

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, May 12: In an effort to reduce growing traffic congestion in the Worli area, Mumbai Traffic Police have introduced fresh parking restrictions on GM Bhosle Marg, a key arterial road connecting PK Kurne Chowk and Acharya Atre Chowk (Worli Naka).

According to an official statement, the road witnesses heavy vehicular movement as well as significant pedestrian traffic throughout the day. Authorities said indiscriminate roadside parking had become a major cause of bottlenecks despite repeated warnings issued to motorists.

To improve traffic flow and regulate parking more effectively, the new restrictions came into force on May 7 and will remain applicable until August 4.

Under the revised rules:
• Parking of taxis, commercial four-wheelers, and heavy vehicles has been completely banned on both the northbound and southbound sides of GM Bhosle Marg.
• Two-wheelers and private four-wheelers will not be allowed to park on the southbound side on even-numbered dates.
• Parking for two-wheelers and private four-wheelers will be prohibited on the northbound side on odd-numbered dates.

Traffic officials said the temporary measures are aimed at streamlining vehicle movement and preventing roadside congestion on one of Worli’s busiest stretches. Motorists have been advised to follow the revised parking norms to avoid penalties and ensure smoother traffic circulation in the area.
