Navi Mumbai launches Maharashtra’s largest free dialysis centre in Vashi

Navi Mumbai, May 11: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has inaugurated Maharashtra’s largest free dialysis facility, a 50-bed centre aimed at providing affordable kidney treatment to patients in need.

The new centre has been set up at the Vivekananda Cultural Center building in Vashi Sector 14 and is expected to significantly ease the financial burden on patients requiring regular dialysis treatment.

Officials noted that each dialysis session typically costs between Rs 3,000 and Rs 3,500, making it unaffordable for many patients who require treatment two to three times a week. The free facility is therefore expected to benefit a large number of economically weaker patients suffering from chronic kidney conditions.

Municipal Commissioner Kailas Shinde has directed officials to widely publicise the availability of the centre so that maximum eligible patients can access the service without delay.

He said the corporation has expanded dialysis infrastructure across multiple civic hospitals in response to rising demand. In total, the civic body now provides 85 dialysis beds across Navi Mumbai, including 50 beds at the newly inaugurated centre, 10 at Vashi Public Hospital, 11 at Nerul Hospital, 11 at Airoli Hospital, and 3 at the CBD Belapur facility.

Officials said the initiative reflects the municipal corporation’s effort to strengthen public healthcare services and ensure that life-saving treatment like dialysis remains accessible to all sections of society, especially those unable to afford private care.
