Beed, May 10: Three women were rescued after police busted an alleged prostitution racket in Maharashtra’s Beed district, officials said on Sunday.
According to police, a raid was carried out on Friday night at a location near a sugar factory in Dharur tehsil by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit.
An official from Dindrud Police Station said the operation led to the rescue of three women who had allegedly been forced into the flesh trade.
Police arrested one man and one woman in connection with the case.
“The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit rescued three women who had been pushed into prostitution. A man and a woman were arrested in this connection. Both have been remanded in police custody,” the official said.
Further investigation is underway.
