Wyoming, May 6: Two hikers were injured in a bear attack on a trail at Yellowstone National Park this week, prompting authorities to close parts of the park, officials said.
According to the National Park Service, the incident occurred on Monday on the Mystic Falls Trail near the popular Old Faithful geyser. Officials said the hikers were attacked by “one or more bears,” and an investigation is currently underway.

Visuals from the scene showed one victim lying on the ground with apparent facial injuries and a blood-soaked shirt, while others were seen assisting the injured. Another video captured a victim being airlifted for medical treatment.
Park authorities confirmed that this is the first bear-related injury reported in Yellowstone this year. The last such incident occurred in September last year, while the last fatal bear attack in the park dates back to 2015, when a 63-year-old man was killed by a grizzly bear.
Following the attack, certain trails and sections of the park have been temporarily closed as a precautionary measure.
A seasonal park employee described the incident as a stark reminder of the risks in the wild. “Once you enter the forest, you become part of the food chain,” she said.
Officials have urged visitors to remain cautious and follow safety guidelines while exploring wildlife areas.
