Bantwal, May 4: Two persons have been arrested in Dakshina Kannada district and fake currency notes with a face value of Rs 2.38 lac have been seized, police said.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohammed Sameer (28) and Mohammed Irfan (26).

The arrests were made following a specific tip-off regarding circulation of counterfeit currency in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada district. Police stated that the accused were found in possession of high-value fake notes and were attempting to circulate them.
During the operation, police also seized three mobile phones and a car believed to have been used by the accused for their activities.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused were part of an active counterfeit currency network. Officials are now probing the source of the fake notes and examining possible links to a larger inter-district or interstate racket, police said.
Further investigation is underway to identify other individuals involved in the operation and to trace the origin and circulation channels of the counterfeit currency, police added.
