Madrid, May 4: World No. 1 Jannik Sinner produced a flawless display to defeat Alexander Zverev and win the men’s singles title at the Mutua Madrid Open, achieving a record-breaking fifth consecutive ATP Masters 1000 triumph.
The Italian needed just 58 minutes to dismantle Zverev 6-1, 6-2 in a one-sided final, showcasing complete control from start to finish. With this victory, Sinner became the first player since the inception of the Masters 1000 series in 1990 to claim five titles in a row at this level.

Sinner set the tone early by breaking serve in the opening game and never allowed his opponent to find rhythm. He converted all four break-point opportunities while not conceding a single break point on his own serve. His dominance was highlighted by an impressive 93 per cent success rate on first-serve points, dictating rallies with precision and confidence.
Reflecting on his performance, Sinner said he was pleased with his aggressive approach and consistency throughout the match, adding that winning another major title in such form was especially meaningful.
The Madrid victory marks his ninth Masters 1000 crown and caps an extraordinary run that began after his retirement at the Shanghai Masters last October. Since then, the 24-year-old has claimed titles in Paris Masters, Indian Wells Masters, Miami Open, Monte-Carlo Masters, and now Madrid, losing only a handful of sets along the way.
Sinner also made history earlier in the season by winning the first four Masters 1000 events of the year, including the ‘Sunshine Double’, and defeating Carlos Alcaraz in Monte-Carlo.
He now stands close to another milestone—completing the rare Career Golden Masters, a feat achieved only by Novak Djokovic. Sinner will have the opportunity to reach that landmark at the upcoming Italian Open on home soil.
