New Delhi, May 3: Star wrestler Vinesh Phogat has expressed concerns over possible bias ahead of her competitive comeback, prompting assurances from the Wrestling Federation of India on safety and fair conduct during upcoming events.
Vinesh, who is set to return to the mat after a prolonged break, reportedly flagged apprehensions regarding neutrality and conditions at the competition venue. Her concerns come amid ongoing tensions within Indian wrestling circles over administration and governance issues.
Responding to the concerns, WFI officials said that all necessary measures have been put in place to ensure a fair and secure environment for athletes. The federation also ruled out any change in venue, confirming that the competition will proceed as scheduled in Gonda.

Officials emphasised that strict adherence to rules and transparent officiating would be maintained, adding that athlete safety remains a top priority.
The development comes at a crucial time for Vinesh, one of India’s most accomplished wrestlers, as she prepares to make a comeback amid heightened scrutiny and expectations
