Bengaluru, Apr 28: Chief minister Siddaramaiah has announced eight 'guarantees' to strengthen government schools in the state.
The comprehensive plan has been designed to improve the quality of government primary schools, high schools and pre-university colleges across Karnataka.
Under the scheme, steps will be taken to address the shortage of teachers through speedy recruitment. Every school will be provided with well-equipped buildings, classrooms based on student strength, clean drinking water and toilet facilities.

Students and parents will be given the option to choose the medium of instruction according to their preference. Free transport facilities will also be arranged for students studying in Karnataka Public Schools from surrounding villages and wards.
In line with modern educational needs, priority will be given to promoting digital learning in every school and establishing smart classrooms. Equal importance will also be given to art and sports activities. Separate monitoring committees will be formed to continuously review the academic quality of schools.
In addition, keeping future employment opportunities in mind, students will be provided skill-based training from the school level itself.
Sharing the information on social media platform X, the chief minister referred to the recent SSLC and PU examination results.
He said the state recorded 94.1 percent results in SSLC and 86.48 percent in PU, with the performance of students from government schools being particularly noteworthy.
He opined that these achievements reflect the strength of the government education system.
He also stated that the reforms would be implemented from the 2026-27 academic year and expressed confidence that more than 50 lakh students would benefit from the measures.
The government’s goal is to build the best government school system in the country within the next five years, he said.
The chief minister appealed to parents and students to enroll in government schools in larger numbers and become part of this transformation.
