Udupi, Apr 27: Kasturba Hospital, Manipal celebrated Medical Laboratory Professionals Week 2026 on April 25, marking the culmination of a special week observed from April 19 to April 25 in recognition of the invaluable contributions of laboratory professionals. This dedicated week honors the tireless efforts of lab personnel who work behind the scenes to ensure accurate diagnosis and quality patient care.
This year’s theme, “Lab Story: To Infinity and Beyond for Our Patients,” highlighted the dedication, innovation, and unwavering commitment of laboratory teams who consistently go above and beyond in delivering excellence for patients.
On this occasion, Dr Sudhakar Kantipudi, chief operating officer, Teaching Hospitals, MAHE, Manipal, who appreciated the relentless service of laboratory professionals and emphasized their critical role in healthcare delivery. In his address, he said, “Laboratory professionals are the silent pillars of our healthcare system. Every accurate diagnosis, every timely treatment, and every successful patient outcome is supported by your dedication and precision. Your work may happen behind the scenes, but its impact is seen in every life we touch. Let us continue to strive for excellence, embrace innovation, and work together to provide the highest standards of patient care.”
Associate dean Dr Ranjitha Shetty also graced the occasion and acknowledged the remarkable contribution of the laboratory teams in maintaining quality standards and supporting clinical excellence. A special cake-cutting ceremony added warmth to the celebration and was led by senior technicians including Malathi from Microbiology, Poornima from Blood Bank, Sujatha from Hematology, Sathish Poojary from Pathology, Sowmya Acharya from Medical Genetics, Akshatha from STAT Lab, and Ganesh Naik from Clinical Biochemistry.
Heads of Departments including Dr Ravindra Maradi (Biochemistry), Dr Shashidhar V (Microbiology), and Dr Vidya Monappa (Pathology), along with all lab supervisors, joined the celebration, making it a memorable occasion for the entire laboratory fraternity.
