Udupi: One arrested in bike theft case

Udupi, Apr 27: Padubidri police have arrested one accused in connection with a bike theft case reported within the Padubidri police station limits.

The arrested accused has been identified as Manjunath Fakirappa Valikar, a resident of Shyadaguppi village in Hanagal taluk of Haveri district.

Police said that on April 18, the accused had stolen a bike belonging to Vasudev Shettigar, a resident of Mulki Karnad, which had been parked near Sri Narayana Guru Mandir in Padubidri. A case in this regard had been registered at Padubidri police station.

Under the guidance of S Vijay Prasad, deputy superintendent of police, Karkala subdivision, and Azmath Ali, circle inspector of Kaup, a special team led by Padubidri police station sub-inspectors Sakthivelu E and Anil Kumar T Nayak took the accused into custody.

Police also recovered the stolen bike worth Rs 20,000 from him.

ASI Rajesh P, Krishna Prasad, Ashwin Kumar, and Sandesh Bhandary took part in the operation.

The accused has been produced before the court.
