Johannesburg, Apr 26: Deepti Sharma delivered a standout all-round performance to guide India to a 14-run victory over South Africa Women’s Cricket Team in the fourth T20I at the Wanderers Stadium, keeping the visitors alive in the series.

Batting first, India posted 185/5, powered by Deepti’s unbeaten 36, along with useful contributions from Jemimah Rodrigues (43) and captain Harmanpreet Kaur (22). Deepti then combined with Richa Ghosh (34*) to add a crucial late partnership that boosted the total.

South Africa’s chase of 186 began strongly, with Sune Luus (40) and Tazmin Brits (30) providing early momentum. However, Deepti Sharma turned the match decisively with the ball, claiming a brilliant 5/19 and triggering a collapse that saw the hosts finish at 171/9.

Speaking after the match in a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Deepti said her confidence came from self-belief and hard work, especially after focused net sessions with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur. She emphasized the importance of correcting small technical details and staying mentally strong in crucial moments.

She added that performing against top opposition made the achievement even more special, calling her five-wicket haul a memorable milestone.

The win helped India avoid a series clean sweep, though South Africa still lead the five-match series 3–1. The final T20I is scheduled to be played in Benoni on Monday.
