Bantwal, Apr 24: The ICYM Unit of Our Lady of Vailankanni Church, Farla, joyfully celebrated its annual event, Palloti Yuva Divas, on April 5 (Easter Sunday) at the Farla Church Grounds. The event was organized in support of the renovation and centenary celebrations of St Jacob’s School.
The celebration witnessed the esteemed presence of dignitaries, parishioners, and youth, making the occasion vibrant and memorable with great enthusiasm and unity. The programme commenced with a grand welcome as the dignitaries were escorted to the venue to the rhythmic beats of the traditional chenda, creating an energetic and festive atmosphere.
A warm welcome address was delivered by the ICYM president, Venisha Reema Menezes, who greeted the gathering and set the tone for the celebration. The programme also paid tribute to St Vincent Pallotti, the patron of the parish youth, honoring his inspiring legacy.





































The event was graced by the distinguished chief guest, Anil John Sequeira, additional civil judge and JMFC, Honnavar, who was felicitated as a mark of respect and appreciation. In his address, he motivated the youth and their parents to actively consider opportunities in the government sector, encouraging them to prepare for competitive examinations for a secure future and to contribute towards building a strong and value-based Christian community. He also emphasized the importance of discipline, education, and social responsibility among young people.
Also present on the dais were Fr Praveen D’Souza (Designated director, ICYM Mangalore diocese) and Fr Mark Arun D’Souza (Parish priest and president of the programme), who appreciated the efforts of the youth and imparted their blessings to the gathering.
Fr Gilbert Mascarenhas (ICYM director, Farla Unit), Fr Theodore D'Cunha (Socius priest), Vijoy Ashwin Cardoza (ICYM president, Mangalore diocese), Prem Jeethan Pinto (ICYM Bantwal deanery president), Parish Pastoral Council vice president Steevan Castelino, secretary Sunitha Baptist, All Commission coordinator Irene D’Souza, Youth Commission in-charge Ivan Arun Menezes, and ICYM Farla Unit animators Arun Monthu Barboza and Priya Jyothi Cutinha were also present and extended their support and encouragement to the ICYM members.
The annual report was presented by the ICYM Farla Unit secretary, Ancilla D’Souza, highlighting the various activities and achievements of the unit throughout the year.
The formal programme was efficiently compered by Priya Jyothi Cutinha. The event featured a felicitation programme and the distribution of prizes for various competitions conducted throughout the year. A short documentary on St Jacob’s School was also screened, marking its centenary celebrations.
The highlight of the event was the special attraction - SBG Travels Konkani Comedy Drama by Nellu Permannur and team - which brought joy and entertainment, adding a lively spirit to the celebration.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by the Amcho Yuvak/PRO representative, Leswin Sequeira, who expressed sincere gratitude to all the dignitaries, participants, well-wishers, donors, and volunteers for their valuable contributions towards the success of the event.
