Press Club releases ‘Mangaluru Samachara’; Shahnaz highlights journalists’ role

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (NJC)

Mangaluru, April 23: The latest issue of ‘Mangaluru Samachara’ was released at the Press Club here on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, senior writer and editor-in-chief of Anupama monthly, Shahnaz M, emphasised that journalists play a crucial role in shaping society by raising awareness and reflecting realities. She said that while journalists consistently highlight issues faced by others, there is a need for society to recognise and respond to the struggles, responsibilities, and emotional experiences of journalists as well.

She noted that earlier, journalists largely confined themselves to their professional duties. However, in Dakshina Kannada, many journalists today are also actively involved in social service. “Their work, achievements, and experiences—both challenges and successes—should reach the public,” she said, expressing hope that the publication would connect effectively with readers.

The programme was presided over by Mangaluru Press Club vice president Muhammad Arif Padubidri. Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists’ Association president Pushparaj B N and general secretary Rajesh Poojary were present.

Press Club executive committee member R C Bhat compered the programme, while general secretary Ibrahim Adkhasthala proposed the vote of thanks.
