Kundapur, Apr 23: Thieves wearing helmets stole the donation box from the Sri Umamaheshwara temple at Thaggunje in Ajri village.
As usual, Nagaraja Shetty had taken the donation box out from the temple office in the morning and placed it in the outer courtyard while he was engaged in cleaning work. At that time, helmet-wearing thieves arrived at the spot and stole the donation box. When he returned after completing the cleaning work, he found the donation box missing. Upon checking the CCTV footage, the theft was confirmed.

Two thieves first entered the temple pretending to be devotees, offered prayers, and surveyed the surroundings. Noticing that no one was around, they came outside, and one of them, wearing a helmet, carried the donation box in a gunny bag and fled on a bike. Residents of a nearby house raised an alarm, following which the thieves threw away the donation box at a short distance from the temple and escaped.
Nagaraja Shetty has lodged a complaint with the police, and a case has been registered at Shankaranarayana police station.
