Moodbidri: Eight injured as footbridge collapses during religious procession

Moodbidri, Apr 22: Eight people sustained injuries after a footbridge collapsed while they were carrying a 'Bhandara' in a palanquin during a religious procession at Takode Barke on Wednesday.

The incident occurred during the 'Dharmanema' festival as the procession was moving from Bavadaguttu. The wooden footbridge reportedly gave way under the weight of the participants, causing them to fall.

The injured have been identified as Sunil Shetty Mukaldi, Maroor, Lokesh Bhandari, and five others.

Immediately after the mishap, local residents rushed to the spot and assisted in rescuing the injured. They were subsequently shifted to a private hospital in Moodbidri, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
