Family of teen found dead in singer D4vd’s Tesla seeks justice as murder case unfolds

Los Angeles, Apr 22: The family of a 14-year-old California girl whose remains were found in the trunk of singer D4vd’s Tesla has demanded justice in its first public statement since the case shocked the United States.

Jesus Rivas and Mercedes Martinez remembered their daughter, Celeste Rivas Hernandez, as a loving and spirited teenager who enjoyed singing and dancing.

“All we want is justice,” the grieving parents said in a statement issued through their attorney, adding that they miss their daughter deeply.

Describing cherished family moments, they said Celeste was deeply loved and often expressed her affection for them.

The family also thanked the Los Angeles Police Department, the district attorney’s office and residents of Lake Elsinore for their support during the investigation.

The statement came after 21-year-old singer D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was charged in Celeste’s murder. He was arrested last week and has pleaded not guilty, while his lawyers have said they will contest the charges.

Celeste’s body was discovered on September 8 in the trunk of Burke’s impounded Tesla at a Hollywood tow facility after authorities received reports of a foul odour from the vehicle.

Court filings linked to a grand jury probe allege the remains had been dismembered and placed in bags. Her exact cause of death has not been made public.

Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell said investigators found Burke had allegedly been involved in a sexual relationship with the teenager, who had reportedly run away from Riverside.

A criminal complaint alleges sexual abuse took place over a period spanning September 2023 to September 2024.

Prosecutors have alleged Burke killed the teenager to protect his career, claiming she was a witness in the sexual abuse case now forming part of the charges against him.

The case has drawn widespread attention as investigators continue to pursue the prosecution.
