Beltangady: Son attempts to murder father in Ujire; accused arrested

Beltangady, Apr 22: In a shocking incident, a son allegedly attempted to murder his father by attacking him with a machete in an inebriated state at Ujire in Beltangady taluk.

The accused, identified as Bharat (25), has been arrested by the police. The victim, Narayana (52), a masonry worker and resident of Manike in Ujire village, is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

According to sources, a heated argument broke out between Narayana and his son Bharat, who works at a timber yard, while both were under the influence of alcohol. During the altercation, Bharat allegedly attacked his father outside their house, inflicting serious injuries to his neck and hands with a machete.

Neighbours who witnessed the incident rushed Narayana to a private hospital in Ujire, where he is undergoing treatment.

A case has been registered at the Beltangady police station, and further investigations are underway.
