Amravati, Apr 18: In the high-profile sex scandal case reported from Paratwada in Maharashtra’s Amravati district, police have taken major disciplinary action after a birthday video of the main accused went viral, leading to the suspension of three police personnel, including an officer.

The three had earlier been attached to the control room pending inquiry.

The case is being investigated by a Special Investigation Team (SIT), which has intensified its probe by visiting rented flats, cafés and a dam linked to the accused’s alleged activities.

Investigators have also deleted 41 social media accounts allegedly used to circulate photos and videos of victims.

According to police, the accused Ayan Ahmed is alleged to have taken victims to a rented flat on Kathora Road in Amravati, where the exploitation reportedly took place. The flat has been inspected and its owner is being questioned.

The SIT has also examined locations where the accused allegedly met victims, including Cafe Royal 10, Cafe Friends Town in Achalpur, and the now-closed Cafe Social Junction in Paratwada. Investigations were also carried out at the Wazhar Dam garden, where meetings with a victim are suspected to have taken place.

So far, around 10 people have been questioned in connection with the case, though no arrests have been made yet.

The National Commission for Women has taken cognisance of the matter and reviewed the case through video conferencing.

Police officials said action against the suspended personnel was taken immediately after their presence was seen in the viral birthday video, to ensure transparency and maintain public trust as the investigation continues.
