Milagres College hosts national-level paper presentation competition 'Anweshan-2026'

Mangaluru, Apr 17: Milagres College organized a national-level paper presentation competition “Anweshan-2026” on April 16, in the college auditorium. The event was conducted under the aegis of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) with the objective of promoting a research culture among students under the theme “Research to Find Solutions.”

The program commenced with a welcome address by Muskan Gupta of III BCom, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp and a prayer by the college choir, invoking blessings for the successful conduct of the event.

The session was anchored by Tenzil of III BCom. The event was presided over by principal Dr Alwin Serrao.

The chief guests and judges for the occasion included Dr Jeevan Lionel Joseph Pinto, associate professor and head of the department of MCA at AIMIT, St Aloysius Deemed to be University, and Dr Babitha Rohit, associate professor in the department of business administration at St Joseph Engineering College. Also present were IQAC coordinator Chethana Kumari and Dr Asha Jyothi, head of the department of commerce and convener of the programme.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Jeevan Pinto highlighted the importance of research methodology, critical thinking, and systematic investigation. Dr Babitha Rohit spoke on the essentials of research paper writing, emphasizing structure, clarity, and academic integrity. In his presidential address, Dr Alwin Serrao motivated students to actively engage in research and strive for academic excellence.

A total of 31 students participated in the competition, presenting research papers on diverse topics.

The winners of the competition were:

• First place: Saniya PT, Alva’s College

• Second place: Arin Miranda, Shri Bhuvanendra College

• Third place: Clevan Deekshith, Milagres College

The event was coordinated by student organizers Muskan Gupta (III BCom) and Vinson D’Souza (II BCom) with the support of faculty members. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr Asha Jyothi.
