Munich, Apr 16: Bayern Munich booked their place in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals after a dramatic 4-3 victory over Real Madrid in the second leg of their quarter-final clash, sealing a 6-4 aggregate win.

In a pulsating encounter, Luis Díaz and Michael Olise struck late goals to secure Bayern’s progression after a back-and-forth contest filled with twists.

Madrid got off to a dream start when Arda Güler capitalised on a misplaced pass from Manuel Neuer to score within 34 seconds. Güler doubled his tally later in the half with a stunning free-kick, keeping the Spanish giants in the fight.

Bayern responded through Aleksandar Pavlovic, who headed in from a corner by Joshua Kimmich, before Harry Kane netted with a composed finish to restore their advantage.

Kylian Mbappé brought Madrid level on aggregate just before half-time, finishing off a move created by Vinícius Júnior, who had earlier struck the woodwork.

The intensity remained high after the break, with both sides creating chances. The game turned decisively in the closing stages when Eduardo Camavinga was sent off, leaving Madrid a man down.

Bayern capitalised quickly, as Díaz curled in a decisive effort that took a deflection off Éder Militão. With Madrid pushing forward desperately, Olise sealed the win with a clinical finish in the dying moments.

Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany praised his team’s resilience after the match, highlighting their composure and mental strength in overcoming setbacks during the high-stakes encounter.

The German side will now face Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals, with the first leg scheduled for April 28.
