New Delhi, Apr 14: The government confirmed that all Indian seafarers currently in the Gulf region are safe, with no incidents reported involving Indian-flagged vessels in the past 24 hours.
According to the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, the Directorate General of Shipping has successfully facilitated the repatriation of more than 2,262 Indian seafarers so far, including 85 in the last day alone, from various locations across the region.
Officials noted that the DG Shipping control room has been actively monitoring the situation, handling over 6,000 calls and more than 13,000 emails since its activation, reflecting the scale of coordination efforts underway to support maritime personnel.

Port operations across India remain stable, with no congestion or disruption reported, indicating smooth functioning of maritime logistics despite regional tensions.
The government added that it continues to work closely with the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian diplomatic missions, and maritime stakeholders to ensure the safety and welfare of Indian nationals at sea.
As part of broader diplomatic engagement, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has held discussions with counterparts from Kuwait, Israel, Singapore, and Australia, focusing on regional developments in West Asia and the protection of Indian citizens.
Indian missions in the region remain on round-the-clock alert, operating helplines and maintaining close coordination with local authorities to assist citizens whenever required. The government reiterated that ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of Indians abroad remains its top priority.
