Mangaluru, Apr 14: Large-scale civic development works worth Rs 165 crore are set to be launched in the city on April 18 under the Mahatma Gandhi Nagar Vikasana Yojana 2.0, MLC Ivan D’Souza has announced.
According to D’Souza, urban development and town planning minister Byrathi Suresh and Dakshina Kannada district-in-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao will jointly lay the foundation stones for the projects.
The works will be implemented across 60 wards in Mangaluru city, with a primary focus on strengthening road infrastructure. Roads identified for upgradation will be converted from asphalt to concrete under the scheme, he said.

The foundation stone laying ceremonies will be held at Valencia Circle, Chilimbi Gudde, and Ambedkar Bhavan, marking the formal commencement of the multi-crore development initiative in the city.
Officials said the programme is part of a broader urban development push aimed at improving and modernising civic infrastructure across Mangaluru.
