Mumbai, Apr 13: Indian players delivered an impressive performance at the US Open Pickleball Championships 2026 in Naples, Florida, securing a total of three gold medals and reinforcing the country’s growing stature in the sport.
Arjun Singh clinched gold in the Men’s Singles 5.0 category, defeating Ashton Patterson in straight sets 13-11, 11-6. His dominant performance added to India’s medal tally in the prestigious tournament.
Veteran player Dhiren Patel also secured gold in the 40+ Pro Men’s Singles category, further strengthening India’s presence on the global pickleball stage. In a closely fought final, Patel edged past Juan Arraya with a scoreline of 11-9, 3-11, 11-9. His experience proved crucial in navigating the tight contest and securing victory.

With these wins, India’s gold medal count at the tournament rose to three, marking a significant achievement for the contingent.
Expressing his happiness, Patel described the final as one of his toughest matches and credited strategic execution and support from his team for the win. He also acknowledged the role of the Indian Pickleball Association in promoting the sport and supporting athletes.
Association President Suryaveer Singh Bhullar hailed the achievement, stating that India is emerging as a strong force in global pickleball. He also praised the players for their performances and highlighted the association’s commitment to elevating India’s position internationally.
The Indian contingent had received direct entry into the tournament through a partnership between the Indian Pickleball Association and the organisers, marking a significant milestone. The strong showing at the event signals India’s rising competitiveness and potential dominance in future international pickleball competitions.
