Mangaluru, Apr 13: St Aloysius ITI organized a solemn tribute programme to honor the memory of late Fr Melwin J Pinto, SJ, who passed away on April 10. He served as the rector of St Aloysius College, vice president of MJES (Mangaluru Jesuit Educational Society), and pro-chancellor of St Aloysius Deemed to be University (SADU), Mangaluru. The institution paid heartfelt homage to the departed soul, remembering his exemplary leadership, dedicated service, and immense contribution to education and society.
A condolence and tribute ceremony was held on April 13 at St Aloysius ITI. The programme witnessed the presence of director Fr John D’Souza, SJ, principal Roshan D’Souza, vice principal Alwyn Menezes, training officer Noel Lobo, Wilson N, along with staff and students.
























The programme was compered by Noel Lobo, who served as the master of ceremonies and conducted the proceedings with dignity and respect. The ceremony began with a prayer service led by Wilson N, invoking peace for the departed soul.
Director Fr John D’Souza, SJ addressed the gathering and expressed his deep sorrow over the passing of Fr Melwin J Pinto, SJ. He reflected on his life, his commitment to Jesuit values, and his significant contributions as rector, vice president of MJES, and pro-chancellor of SADU.
Principal Roshan D’Souza also addressed the gathering, expressing grief over the loss of the rector, Fr Melwin J Pinto, SJ. He highlighted his visionary leadership, dedication to student welfare, and his lasting impact on the institution and the academic community.
A prayer ceremony was then held, during which staff and students collectively offered prayers for the eternal repose of the departed soul. The solemn atmosphere reflected deep respect and gratitude.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by vice principal Alwyn Menezes, who expressed gratitude to all present for their participation and support.
As a mark of respect, a flower offering ceremony was held, where all gathered paid homage by offering flowers to the image of the departed soul.
The programme ended on a solemn note, remembering the life, service, and enduring legacy of late Fr Melwin J Pinto, SJ.
