Colva, Apr 12: Police in Colva have begun proceedings to issue a ‘Blue Corner’ lookout notice against two Russian nationals accused of breaking into a jewellery shop in Cavelossim and stealing cash and ornaments worth Rs 4.30 lakh.

The case stems from a complaint filed by shop owner Khursheed Ahmad Guroo, who reported that the burglary took place late on the night of April 7. According to investigators, the suspects forced their way into the shop by breaking open a wooden door before escaping with Rs 2.30 lakh in cash and silver ornaments valued at around Rs 2 lakh.

The incident was discovered when employees working late noticed unusual activity and raised an alarm. In their hurried escape, the accused abandoned a two-wheeler at the scene and fled.

Police inspector Vikram Naik revealed that the suspects had attempted to evade identification by placing a fake registration sticker over the vehicle’s original number plate. During the investigation, authorities traced the vehicle back to a rental service in Morjim and obtained details linked to the accused. However, their current whereabouts remain unknown.

Officials also noted that the suspects relied primarily on WhatsApp calls for communication, making it harder to track their movements using standard surveillance methods.

Given the seriousness of the crime, law enforcement agencies have alerted airports and other authorities to prevent the accused from leaving the country while efforts to locate them continue.
