Mumbai, Aug 19: Actor Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja continue to remain in the spotlight amid ongoing speculation about their relationship, with the couple involved in a public exchange of remarks in recent weeks.

Sunita, who has previously acknowledged that she no longer lives with Govinda, was photographed leaving a family court in Mumbai on Wednesday. She was accompanied by their son Yashvardhan Ahuja, who helped ensure that she reached her car safely.

Unlike some of her recent interactions with the media, Sunita did not engage with the paparazzi outside the court. However, when a photographer asked her about what had happened inside, she responded with her characteristic humour.

“Birthday manane aaye the (We had a birthday party),” she said.

Sunita's appearance at the family court comes amid renewed speculation about the status of her marriage to Govinda. Neither Sunita nor Govinda has officially confirmed or denied reports that they have separated.

The controversy intensified after Sunita publicly commented on Govinda's equation with his co-star Komal Rani Swarnkar. She went on to describe Govinda as a “sugar daddy” and made remarks suggesting that their relationship extended beyond professional boundaries.

Govinda subsequently responded through a video message, asking Sunita to exercise restraint while speaking publicly and to be mindful of the family's reputation.

The couple's relationship has faced speculation for some time. An unverified report from 2024 claimed that Sunita had approached the Bandra Family Court seeking divorce, citing allegations including adultery, cruelty and desertion. The matter was later reportedly settled.

Since then, Govinda and Sunita's relationship has appeared to move between periods of tension and reconciliation. Despite their differences, the couple came together to celebrate Karwa Chauth last year.

Govinda also addressed his relationship with Sunita while appearing on Kajol and Twinkle Khanna's chat show Two Much, where he spoke about having forgiven her for some of her outspoken remarks.

Earlier this year, when Sunita appeared on the reality show Lock Upp, Govinda publicly extended his support to her despite her earlier comments about him.

Sunita, however, has continued to speak about their relationship in interviews and podcasts, including making allegations about Govinda's alleged involvement with a younger woman outside their marriage.

Govinda largely avoided responding to the remarks and viral paparazzi moments until the recent “sugar daddy” controversy prompted him to break his silence.

He appealed to Sunita to be mindful of the family's image and urged her to avoid using abusive or offensive language while speaking about him in the media.

With Sunita's latest appearance at the family court once again drawing attention, speculation over the couple's relationship has resurfaced. However, in the absence of an official statement from either side, the exact status of their marriage remains unclear.
