Washington, Apr 11: US President Donald Trump has warned that American warships are being prepared for possible military action against Iran if ongoing negotiations fail to produce a deal, even as diplomatic efforts continue in the region.
In an interview with the New York Post, Trump said the United States is reinforcing its naval presence and equipping warships with advanced weaponry amid rising tensions. “We have a reset going. We are loading up the ships with the best ammunition, the best weapons ever made… and if we don’t have a deal, we will be using them,” he was quoted as saying.
The comments come alongside a cryptic post on his social media platform Truth Social, where Trump referred to a “WORLD’S MOST POWERFUL RESET!!!”, fuelling speculation over Washington’s next strategic move.

Meanwhile, US Vice President JD Vance has left for Pakistan to attend US-Iran peace talks aimed at ending the ongoing conflict. Vance said he expected “positive” discussions and noted that Trump had issued clear guidelines for negotiations, stressing that the US would respond based on Iran’s willingness to engage in good faith.
“If they’re going to try to play us, then they’re going to find that the negotiating team is not that receptive,” Vance said before departure.
On the Iranian side, officials have indicated that talks are now expected to begin on Saturday, with Tehran also setting pre-conditions. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said negotiations would depend on a ceasefire in Lebanon and the release of Iran’s frozen assets.
Iranian state media also reported that Tehran may withdraw from the Islamabad talks if Israeli strikes in Lebanon continue, adding further uncertainty to already fragile diplomatic efforts.
