Kolkata, Apr 10: A stellar knock by youngster Mukul Choudhary powered Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to a thrilling victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League 2026 clash at the iconic Eden Gardens.

Chasing a target of 182, Mukul emerged as the match-winner with an unbeaten 54 off just 27 balls, guiding LSG home in a tense finish. His composed yet aggressive innings drew praise from all quarters.

Following the match, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka was seen sharing a heartfelt moment with the young batter on the field. In a video that has gone viral, Goenka appeared to appreciate Mukul’s performance, reflecting a proud, almost fatherly gesture.

Speaking after the game, Mukul opened up about his journey, revealing that his father had dreamt of him becoming a cricketer even before his birth. Despite financial struggles, he began playing cricket at the age of 12-13 and later moved from Jhunjhunu to Jaipur in search of better training opportunities.

With the rise of T20 cricket, Mukul said he adapted his game by training in Gurugram, where he spent several months honing his skills.

On handling pressure, the youngster displayed remarkable maturity, stating that he views high-pressure situations as opportunities. “Pressure is always there, but I see it as an opportunity. My plan was to stay till the end and finish the game,” he said.

Describing his approach in the final overs, Mukul added, “I knew one ball would come into my zone, and I just needed to connect for a six.”

The innings not only sealed a memorable win for LSG but also marked the arrival of a promising new talent in the tournament.
