Chandigarh, Apr 9: In a significant counter-terror operation, Punjab Police, in coordination with central agencies and the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) of the Counter Intelligence Wing, has dismantled an ISI-sponsored Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) module, arresting two operatives, officials said.

The accused, identified as Akash Masih and Jablaun, residents of Dulla Nangal in Gurdaspur, have prior criminal records. Their apprehension led to the seizure of a large cache of explosives and terror-related materials, including five hand grenades, two special detonators, a Push-to-Talk (PTT) timer with coder and decoder, a 9V battery, one kilogram of high explosive packed with nails, an improvised explosive device (IED), and a Baofeng walkie-talkie with trigger mechanism.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated that the recovered materials indicated preparations for high-impact attacks aimed at destabilizing public peace in Punjab. Deputy Inspector General of Police, Border Range, Sandeep Goel, added that initial investigations suggest the terror module was directed by foreign-based handlers. Authorities are probing to uncover the full conspiracy and identify local support networks.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police, Gurdaspur, Aditya, the arrests were made during a special police check at T-Point Jogowal Bedia. Two young men were intercepted on a motorcycle attempting to flee. A pillion rider was found carrying two bags containing explosives. Forensic and bomb disposal teams were immediately deployed, and all recovered explosives and grenades were safely defused.

A first information report (FIR) was registered on April 8 at Kalanaur police station under Sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act. Investigations are ongoing to trace all connections and prevent any planned attacks.
