New Delhi, Apr 8: The Government of India has issued a fresh advisory urging its citizens in Iran to “expeditiously exit” the conflict-hit nation in view of the evolving security situation.
In a statement, the Indian Embassy in Tehran strongly advised Indian nationals to leave the country using routes suggested by the embassy and in close coordination with officials.

“It is again reiterated that there should be no attempt to approach any international land border without prior consultation and coordination with the Embassy,” the advisory stated.
The embassy has also issued emergency helpline numbers and an email contact to assist citizens in facilitating their departure.
The latest advisory comes amid heightened tensions in the region, even as the United States and Iran recently agreed to a temporary two-week ceasefire following days of escalating conflict.
Earlier, the embassy had advised Indian nationals to remain at their current locations for 48 hours, before issuing the updated directive to leave the country.
According to official data, around 9,000 Indians — including a large number of students — were in Iran when hostilities began after joint strikes by the US and Israel on February 28. So far, approximately 1,800 Indian nationals have returned home.
The ceasefire agreement was announced shortly before a deadline set by US President Donald Trump, following diplomatic efforts involving Shehbaz Sharif. Talks between the two sides are expected to be held in Islamabad in the coming days.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as efforts are underway to ensure the safe evacuation of remaining Indian citizens.
