Puttur: Pedestrian killed after crane hits him at Piligoodu

Puttur, Apr 8: A pedestrian died on the spot after being hit by a crane at Piligoodu in Kaniyoor village of Beltangady taluk on April 7.

The deceased has been identified as Mahalingam (53), a native of Tamil Nadu who was residing at Kottige in Puttur taluk.

According to reports, Mahalingam was walking along the roadside from Uppinangady towards Piligoodu when a crane coming from Guruvayanakere towards Uppinangady went out of control and rammed into him. The impact of the collision was so severe that he died on the spot.

A complaint in this regard has been lodged by his son Sudin at the Puttur Traffic police station. The police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
