Kaup, Apr 7: A mentally challenged youth aged around 20 to 25 years, with no known identity or address, has gone missing from Vishwasadham Orphanage since March 30.

The youth was earlier found at Rambur on February 6 and was rescued by Mustafa Kallapalli. He was later handed over through the Sullia police station to Asif, founder of Maimuna Foundation. On February 7, he was admitted to the Vishwasadham orphanage.

As the youth was unable to speak, he was given the name ‘Gidi’ at the orphanage.

According to sources, on the night of March 30, he had dinner at around 9 pm and went to sleep. However, between 10.30 pm and later that night, he reportedly escaped from the orphanage.

Vishwasadham vice-president Mathew Castelino has appealed to Kaup police to trace the missing youth. A request has also been made to the public to assist in locating him.
