Panaji, Apr 7: Lifesavers deployed by Drishti Marine carried out multiple rescue and assistance operations along Goa’s beaches over the long holiday weekend, saving five persons from drowning, tracing three missing children, and providing emergency medical aid to two individuals.
At Ashwem beach, a 37-year-old tourist from Bengaluru was rescued after being caught in a rip current while swimming. Lifesavers swiftly reached him using a rescue board and jet ski and brought him ashore, where he was administered oxygen before being handed over to medical personnel.

At Morjim beach, three men from Ludhiana were rescued after drifting into a rip current during low tide. Prompt action by the lifesavers ensured their safe return to shore.
At Baga beach, a four-year-old boy who went missing was traced within a short time near a lifeguard tower and reunited with his mother after verification in the presence of the Goa Police.
At Calangute beach, a seven-year-old girl from Karnataka and another four-year-old boy from Uttar Pradesh, reported missing in separate incidents, were successfully traced and reunited with their families following coordinated search efforts.
At Candolim beach, a 26-year-old man from Haryana was rescued after being pulled away by a rip current. In separate incidents, an 18-year-old youth received first aid for a deep foot injury and was later shifted to a health centre, while a 50-year-old woman from Bihar was assisted after suffering a suspected leg dislocation and transported for treatment.
In another incident at Bogmalo beach, a thief who snatched a bag from a foreign tourist was chased and apprehended by a lifesaver before being handed over to the police.
At Colva beach, a lost mobile phone belonging to a tourist from Pune was recovered and returned after due verification.
Authorities said the timely intervention of lifesavers helped avert major mishaps and ensured safety along the beaches during the busy holiday period.
