Udupi, Apr 6: The grounds of Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte, were transformed into a sea of melody and emotion as 'Sumadhur-2', a mega musical concert led by acclaimed singer-composer Joshal D’Souza, enthralled a massive audience on Sunday. Organised by the Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh (R), the event served as a perfect Easter gift to the region, blending high-caliber entertainment with a monumental charitable mission.
Immediately following the formal stage programme, the musical nite commenced with a soulful prayer song by the students of Sumadhur Music Academy. The event was expertly navigated by ace compere Nelson Monis, whose charismatic opening won over the audience.
The musical journey reached its first crescendo when Joshal D’Souza took to the stage, ending the fans' anticipation with her hit "Tu Yetai Munon" from the album 'Hero'.

The stage was further graced by Konkani music icons Robin Sequeira and Jason Lobo, alongside promising young talent Ishney Fernandes from Kemmannu. Together, they delivered a diverse repertoire of multilingual medleys, heartfelt duets, and powerful solos.
A standout moment of the nite was provided by little Leona Olivera, who won hearts with her bold rendition of the famous Goan song "Red Rose". The talented students of the academy remained a vital part of the evening's musical fabric, providing flawless backing vocals.
Beyond the vocals, the event featured a rich variety of performing arts. Team Memory Mangaluru provided perfect comic relief with engaging skits, while the dancers of Urban Groove set the stage ablaze with high-octane choreography.
The entire production was elevated by Sanjay Rodrigues and his band, whose world-class orchestration provided a flawless accompaniment. The seamless flow and professional execution of the show were credited to the vision of show director Stany Bela.
At its heart, Sumadhur-2 was a celebration of compassion and community service. During the show, the organizers honoured Ronald D’Almeida, president of the Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh, for his visionary leadership in spearheading the massive fundraising drive.
Under his guidance, and with the support of parish units and donors, the organisation successfully collected Rs 1 crore dedicated to the developmental works of Goretti Hospital. Joshal D’Souza was also felicitated for her pivotal role and the dedicated association of her team in this mega charity initiative.
The Central Council of the Catholic Sabha expressed profound gratitude to the clergy of the Udupi Diocese and all stakeholders whose collective support ensured that Sumadhur-2 was a historic milestone in regional philanthropy and cultural promotion.
